If you’re anything like us you like to plan your free stampede breakfasts in advance, so we have rounded up a few of the must-stop morning meals for ya! First up is the First Flip on July 4. Hosted every year at Stephen Ave from 7:30 – 10:30 am, it’s the perfect opportunity for all you downtown office workers to get in some free eats. If you miss that one, Fluor Square offers a traditional Stampede feast every morning from 8:15-10:30 am at Olympic Plaza. Not so into pancakes? How about ribs and fries for breakfast? @x929 is hosting their annual not so Stampede breakfast. Monday July 8 be one of the first 200 people at the X studios on 17th and get your hands on Swiss Chalet! For all you not so early risers, there is always the Hank and Patsy dinner at the Ship & Anchor, July 10 at midnight. Get those pancakes to soak up the booze. These are all totally free meals, so get your eating prepped early!

Sneak-a-Peek

Find your boots and steady your livers! The Calgary Stampede may officially start on Friday, but sneak-a-peek starts tonight! Starting at 5pm, get in and tour the grounds before the mad rush starts with an affordable $9 entry! It’s your chance to eat all the deep fried or crazy carny food you will only find down at the grounds, like pickle cotton candy and deep fried cream puffs, then go ride all the twirly rides and try to keep all the deep food and beer down. You can always wander down to the Coke Stage to check out Reuben and the Dark as well as Royal Canoe. Party on, Cowfolks!

Stampede Parade

Ready for the greatest outdoor show on earth? It all officially begins today with the Stampede Parade! You always think they can’t top it, but every year the floats get brighter and the sounds are bigger…This year promises to be bigger and better than ever! Roads in and around the event get closed off by 7:30am with the parade route starting at 9am near the Calgary tower on 9th ave and 1st SE, going west and finishing at 11am on 6th ave and 3 street SE. If you are not already downtown, better dust off your boots, practice your yahoos and get ready for the kick off to the big show. Hit up the grounds afterward for free admission from 11am-1:30pm!
